Supporting Body and Mind to Rest and Restore

Welcome to Mandy Spurr Clinical Reflexology

Reflexology in South Leicestershire

My name is Mandy Spurr and I am a fully qualified and insured Reflexologist based in the South Leicestershire area.

I graduated from Jubilee College in 2018 with a Centralia Reflexology Mastership (Level 5 Diploma in Practitioner Reflexology) and was trained by David Wayte, Principal of Jubilee College.

Since qualifying I have supported private clients, each with individual reasons for choosing reflexology, workplace colleagues and business clients; promoting the benefits of reflexology in the workplace to help reduce stress and improve wellbeing.

I am also trained in Functional Reflex Therapy (FRT). This is a nurturing form of reflexology initially developed to support the emotional wellbeing of young people with diverse needs and high levels of anxiety. I have been fortunate to deliver reflexology using these techniques in the educational environment and witness the positive difference this can have on the wellbeing of young people experiencing anxiety.

I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists (AoR) and as such am committed to continued professional development for the benefit of my clients.

I offer treatments for men and women on Thursdays and limited Saturdays (26 Oct 2024, 30 Nov 2024, 28 Dec 2024, 25 Jan 2025, 22 Feb 2025) and appointments for women on Sundays. Workplace reflexology and wellbeing days are available during the week.

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a complementary health therapy based on the theory that there are reflex points on the feet (hands, face and ears) that correspond to all areas of the body, its organs and systems. A trained reflexologist will apply skilful positive touch techniques to these reflex points aiming to encourage natural healing in the body, restore balance and improve wellbeing.

Reflexology treatments are holistic and individual, with each person’s experience and response being equally as individual. The only way to find out if reflexology is for you, is to try it.

Why Choose Reflexology?

Reflexology can help reduce the body’s stress responses and relieve tension, it can improve sleep, enhance mood and promote a sense of well-being.

Long term exposure to stress responses can be damaging to many areas of the body including the cardiac, musculoskeletal, reproductive, immune and digestive systems.

As a touch therapy, reflexology has been shown to reduce the body’s stress response in a natural and healthy way, with benefits continuing on after the treatment has been completed.

Reflexology treatments can be beneficial as a one off treatment or when included regularly as part of a pro-active healthy lifestyle.

What Happens During a Treatment?

If it is your first treatment we will complete a short medical questionnaire and I will ask you to sign a treatment consent form. I keep all information confidentially.

I deliver reflexology to the feet, ankles and lower leg area (below the knee), so you will only need to remove you shoes and socks. Treatments are delivered in a comfortable reclined position and I use my hands, thumbs and fingers to deliver the reflexology techniques.

The treatment should be relaxing and not be painful, but some points on your feet may initially feel tender when pressed. I shall use an appropriate level of pressure accordingly.

A full treatments lasts about 50 minutes.

Reflexology in the Workplace

Introducing initiatives to promote and support wellbeing in the workplace can have many benefits for employees and employers: increased feelings of motivation, support and appreciation as well as potential tangible benefits such as reduced sickness and absenteeism.

Stress can be caused by a number of situations and over time can contribute to chronic illnesses including heart disease, anxiety and depression.

Whilst we cannot always change a stressful situation, we can do things to help us switch off for a while, encouraging our body systems to re-balance and helping us to re-engage with those around us in a more relaxed way.

Inviting a qualified reflexologist into your workplace is one way to introduce such an initiative.
