As a complementary therapy practitioner, I encourage a multi-faceted approach to self-care and wellbeing, which I believe is key to achieving optimal physical and emotional health.
This is something I see reflected in my clients, who may pursue several self-help options (lifestyle changes, nutrition, exercise, relaxation techniques) as well as regular reflexology treatments, alongside their prescribed medical treatment.
I believe an holistic approach can be extremely beneficial whilst managing the transition through menopause.
In my experience, the physiological and emotional changes associated with menopause can sometimes be accompanied by increased levels of stress and anxiety. By promoting a deep state of relaxation and allowing the body systems chance to rebalance, reflexology can support clients experiencing these symptoms.
The research article I have selected (below) explores the effects of foot reflexology on the occurrence of hot flushes, sweats and night sweats (and quality of life) in women between the age of 40 and 60.
