According to Blood Pressure UK (Date anon, [online]): “Around one in three adults in the UK has high blood pressure” and “In the UK, high blood pressure is the third biggest risk factor for all disease after smoking and poor diet”
These statistics are quite alarming and are reflected in a similar ratio by clients in my treatment room.
The link below is to an extract of a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials evaluating the effects of foot reflexology on vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and pulse oxygen saturation).
Statistically significant positive effects were seen on all the studied vital signs.
As most of my clients include regular reflexology treatments as part of their self-care regime, these results appear to indicate that this lifestyle choice could be having very positive benefits to health on an ongoing basis.
