Can Reflexology Maintain or Improve the Well-being of People with Parkinson’s Disease?

According to Parkinson’s UK (Date anon,[online]) in the UK today, someone is diagnosed with Parkinson’s every 20 minutes.

The condition is associated with a loss of nerve cells in the brain leading to a lack of the chemical dopamine (which is vital for regulating body movement).

The most common symptoms such as involuntary tremors, slow movement and muscle stiffness appear once the dopamine level in the brain becomes too low to control movement properly.

Other symptoms not associated with movement include sleep problems, pain, anxiety and memory problems.

Parkinson’s currently has no cure but there are many ways to treat or manage the symptoms.
